Varna watermain flushing Municipal Events

8:00 AM| Varna ON

Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) will be completing spring watermain flushing for the Varna distribution system.

You may experience discoloured water coming from your tap. If this happens, we suggest you try the following:

  • Remove the tap aerators from your taps and flush the cold water house line until it runs clear.
  • Flush out your hot water tanks. This is to remove the accumulated iron that precipitates out in the tank; this iron may also decrease the efficiency of your water tank.

You may experience fluctuating water pressure due to the flushing activities. For more information contact the Public Works department.

Stop and Look Slow Hike Community Events

10:00 AM| Sawmill Trail - at the end of Sawmill Road, Bayfield

On Saturday, July 27th, the BRVTA will be hosting a ‘Stop and Look’ Slow Hike on the Sawmill Trail at 10:00. The ‘Stop and Look’ Slow hike is intended to help participants be more careful observers of the natural world. Unlike some other hikes whose purpose often seems to be to get to the end of the trail as quickly as possible, this hike will encourage you to slow down, stop, look and listen. While the hike will have practical value for people who enjoy taking pictures, it will be of value to anyone to help develop mindfulness and a sense of being present in the moment. Participants are encouraged to bring whatever camera you have, whether a simple smartphone, point and shoot or a DSLR or mirrorless. The Sawmill trail is at the top of Old River Road and the meeting point will be at the entrance to the trail.
